Miss Lauren Waller, a Sophomore student at Pepperdine University was selected as the 2015 Southern California Rose of Tralee at the packed Grand Ball of the Irishon Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Long Beach Renaissance Hotel and will continue on to Ireland to participate in the acclaimed Rose of Tralee International Festival. “The Rose of Tralee is not a beauty pageant,” Miss Waller shared, “I appreciate that the Festival is about honoring young women of Irish descent worldwide who truly make a difference in their communities while embracing the magical charm, laughter and resilience of what it means to be Irish. I am so honored to represent the Irish community in Southern California and simply be a part of this extraordinary experience.”  In fact, the Rose of Tralee is one of Ireland's largest and longest running festivals, celebrating 55 years in 2014. Based on the legendary song of the same name, the heart of the festival is the selection of the Rose of Tralee, which brings young women of Irish descent from around the world to County Kerry, Ireland fora global celebration of Irish culture. The festival also includes street entertainment, carnival, live concerts, theatre, circus, markets, fun fair, fireworks and the internationally renowned Rose Parade.
